Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo appears keen to stay with the club for another two years, with a report in Italy stating that super agent Jorge Mendes has started work on trying to secure his client an extension on his current deal.

Ronaldo has a contract in Turin until next summer but rather than move on to somewhere new, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner seems happy to stay on a little longer.

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 133 appearances for Juve since joining from Real Madrid in 2018 and has won five domestic trophies during that time – although Champions League glory has remained elusive following quarter-final and last 16 exits.

Ronaldo has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain following rumours in recent months that Juve would be happy to get rid of the veteran because of the vast cost of keeping him by having to pay enormous wages.

But a report from Gazzetta dello Sport appears to make his preference known. It is claimed that Mendes has approached Juve on behalf of Ronaldo to request a contract extension until 2023, which would keep him at the club until after his 38th birthday.

Whether Mendes will be successful in persuading Juve to offer that deal remains to be seen.

The Serie A giants want to offer Paul Pogba a chance to re-join them this summer following a request from returning coach Massimiliano Allegri to be reunited with the French midfielder.

90min reported earlier this month that intermediaries have proposed a swap deal involving Pogba and Ronaldo. Neither club has officially discussed that as an option, although it hasn’t been immediately ruled out by the respective player’s camps – even if Ronaldo prefers to stay at Juve.

Juve want Pogba but it isn’t known if United would be interested in re-signing Ronaldo, despite his hero status at Old Trafford, given his age and likely contract demands.
