Tottenham have reportedly set the wheels in motion for the possible summer signing of Juventus contract rebel Paulo Dybala.

Dybala, 28, is currently in his seventh season for the Old Lady after moving to Turin from Palermo in the summer of 2015. Juve paid an initial €32m for the Argentina international and have certainly got their money’s worth. The Cordoba-born ace has made 282 appearances in all competitions, scoring 112 goals.

He has bagged 79 of those in Serie A and is a player very much in demand. That is not only down to his undoubted talent but the fact he will be a free agent in the summer.

The Bianconeri have made no secret of their desire to keep him at the club. Talks have been held over an extension to his current terms.

The South American is said to have been offered a new four or five-year deal worth around €7m per year. However, he has rejected the offer and the two parties are now at an impasse.

He was due to have talks with Juve officials last week but those were cancelled, leading to speculation over his future.

And La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested the situation made him ‘more and more convinced’ that his future is away from the Juventus Stadium.

That will be music to the ears of Spurs transfer chief Fabio Paratici. According to Tuttosport, the 49-year-old has already ‘moved to test the ground’ for the attacking midfielder.

Spurs links with Juventus are well known, with deals for Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur done in January. Paratici worked for 11 years at the Italian giants and relations between the clubs are good.

Juventus still have Dybala hopes

It is inevitable that Spurs will not be the only club to show an interest in Dybala should he become available. The reports claims that ‘several clubs’ have eyes on the former Instituto de Cordoba player.

It adds that offers have ‘arrived’ from England and Spain and more are expected. Back in February, Sport reported that Tottenham had ‘submitted the most firm’ offer for Dybala.

But Juve are unwilling to give up without a fight and have planned talks for early next week. They will offer him better terms and hope that is enough to keep him at the club for the long term.

Star uncertain on Tottenham future

One player whose Spurs future is up in the air is winger Bryan Gil. The 21-year-old moved to north London from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 but has failed to shine.

He was loaned back to Spain in January, with Valencia taking him on a six-month deal. And the Spain international has started to show his true colours with the LaLiga side.

He has enjoyed four starts among six league appearances and also been seen three times in the Copa del Rey. Manager Jose Bordalas is clearly a big fan but Gil refused to speculate on where he might ply his trade next term.

“The certainty is that my loan will end in June,” he told Estadio Deportivo. “Who knows if I’ll stay for another year? If I tell you that I’m staying for another year or not, I’d be lying to you.”
