There are plans for Ismaila Sarr to leave Watford regardless of whether they can escape relegation from the Premier League, his representative has revealed.

It has been a challenging season for Sarr and Watford. His 13 Championship goals helped them to promotion last term. However, they are now in danger of an instant return to the second tier.

They are three points from safety, and the closest team they can catch (Everton) have games in hand. Nine games remain for Watford to turn things around.

The return of Ismaila Sarr just over a month ago came at an important time. Injury issues halted his progress mid-season, as did his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

But since he has been back in England, the winger has provided one assist from four appearances. He is yet to add to the five goals he scored earlier in the season, before his absence began in November.

However, that may not dissuade potential suitors sensing a bargain in the summer. Sarr may not be too keen on another year in the Championship at the age of 24.

And even if Watford stay up, the former Rennes ace could be on the move. A report from Afrique Sports reminds that he has been linked with Liverpool and AC Milan.

The outlet also carry quotes from his agent, confirming that a summer move could be in the pipeline.

Ismaila Sarr in action for Watford

Thierno Seydi told Afrique Sports: “The only evidence is that I think he has chances to leave regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season with Watford. That’s how it’s planned with those in charge.

Agent was convinced of Ismaila Sarr transfer

“Last year, or a year and a half ago, when the team had gone down to the Championship, he was meant to go, and I was convinced he would.

“Until the last minute, it was almost guaranteed he would leave, but unfortunately it didn’t get done. He took it on the chin, and played in the Championship. He told me it was maybe the step he needed and he had a great season after that.

“Watford went back up. He’s been in good form, but the injury has stopped him in his tracks. He’s going to come back soon and try to finish the season like a cannon ball. It’s clear there are chances he leaves this year from Watford.”

All that remains to be seen is where he will end up. Since Liverpool were last linked, for example, they have gone on to sign another winger in the shape of Luis Diaz. Their need may not be as great any more, depending on what happens with Sarr’s compatriot Sadio Mane or fellow African, Mohamed Salah.
