Barcelona are reportedly back in for Ruben Neves following efforts by his agent to facilitate a move there, rather than to Arsenal or Manchester United.

Neves has been linked with Barcelona for some time. Indeed, the La Liga giants have appeared keen on the Wolves man for much of this season.

Given his form over the past few years, that is no surprise. Neves has hit 24 goals and provided 12 assists during his near-five years at Molineux.

It has become increasingly clear that Neves is one of Wolves‘ biggest stars. As such, the big hitters have become interested in adding him to their ranks.

Barcelona are with Arsenal and Manchester United as the most heavily-linked sides. It was recently reported that Barca may think twice about pursuing the midfielder, due to his transfer fee.

Indeed, their financial problems have been apparent over the past year. They were apparently unwilling to spend big money on Neves.

However, a report from Spanish outlet Sport claims that they may be back in for the midfielder.

Barcelona are reportedly willing to ‘study it [a transfer] carefully’.

While the Camp Nou outfit were reportedly keen on strengthening other areas, they are still keen on Neves.

Indeed, the requirement to sign a replacement for the ageing Sergio Busquets is one reason that they may be keen once again.

Jorge Mendes role in Neves move clear

The apparent renewal of Barcelona’s interest can mainly be attributed to Neves’ agent, Jorge Mendes. He has reportedly been ‘putting him on the table’ for months.

It seems that may have worked, as Barcelona are willing to study the potential deal. Mendes will still have the task of securing a deal that all parties are happy with.

The report states that doing that could be possible given Wolves are ‘interested in several’ Barcelona players. Riqui Puig is one Barcelona player who seems he may be surplus to requirements and has been linked with Wolves.

A deal including the youngster could go a long way to satisfying the Molineux outfit into letting Neves go. If that scenario unfolds, Barcelona could well beat United and Arsenal to the transfer.
