Market: Coventry draw no bet
Odds: 8/15 @ 888sport
Looking to open the New Year with a return to winning ways, Coventry will host Bristol City on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, disappointed earlier in the week as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Cardiff, Coventry will be seeking a response here. Although Mark Robins’ men might have managed to muster just a single victory from their last five Championship outings, that shouldn’t dampen the mood in their camp. While the Sky Blues might once again be dealing with some financial issues behind the scenes, they have lost just a pair of their previous nine second-tier matchups – a run that stems back to October 29th. Looking to find a route back into the top-half of New Year’s Day, Coventry have continued to impress while on home soil this season. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by a 1-0 win against Coventry last month, Sunday’s hosts are unbeaten in each of their last six Championship contests in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, although Bristol City might have claimed their own 0-0 stalemate away at Millwall earlier in the week, the Robins find themselves in the midst of another extended rut. Holding just a three-point buffer over the drop zone and at the heart of a potential relegation scrap, Nigel Pearson’s men have claimed just a single win from any of their last 10 attempts. With that run stemming all the way back to October 18th, the one-time Watford boss could face another tough test on New Year’s Day. Collecting just a single point from their last three second-tier outings, it should also be noted that Pearson’s side hold a largely downbeat record against Sunday’s opponents. Picking up just a sole victory from any of their previous five meetings, we’re backing a home draw no bet here.
