Manchester City are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider. The defending Premier League champions sold Lavia to the Saints in the summer of 2022 and are looking at bringing the defensive midfielder back to the Etihad Stadium.

City reportedly have a buy-back clause in the deal and can sign the 19-year-old for £40 million. A number of clubs in the Premier League are keen on the teenager, but City are in pole position for the defensive midfielder and could decide to trigger the buy-back clause.

Manchester City are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 58 points from 26 matches, five points behind leaders Arsenal. Meanwhile, Southampton currently find themselves second from bottom in the standings with 21 points from 25 matches, just a point behind 17th-placed Leeds United.
